Play the classic beat 'em up in your browser

Street Fighter II' Championship Edition is a faithful remake of the classic console fighting game, which you can play for free in your web browser.

This online version of Street Fighter II' Championship Edition contains all the characters of the original, including mighty warriors such as Ryu, Chun Li, Blanka and M. Bison. The game is set to Championship mode, where you must battle each of the 11 other fighters in turn. Unfortunately, there's no Arcade mode or two-player mode.

Street Fighter II' Championship Edition looks and feels exactly like the original 16-bit version of the game. The graphics and music have been lovingly recreated and all the special moves are there. The default keyboard controls feel natural enough, although you can change the configuration if you like. There's a helpful guide to all the moves in Street Fighter II' Championship Edition if you click the question mark icon.

The way the game is delivered on the Newgrounds site makes for a comfortable gaming experience. options include the ability to open Street Fighter II' Championship Edition in a pop-out window, mute/unmute, expand, and a dimming feature that makes the background web page darker.

It's a shame you can't play against a friend, but Street Fighter II' Championship Edition is a very good recreation of the single-player mode in this legendary fighting game.

PROS
